The National winners will receive a $1000 (one thousand) monetary gift and the Erma Downs Elliott Award for Excellence in Oral Interpretation.
The first runner up will receive a $700 (seven hundred) monetary gift and a second place Medallion.
The second runner up will receive a $500 (five hundred ) monetary gift and third place Medallion
Limited Participation
In the event that the participation is less than 880 (combined national entries) only the First Place Winners will receive the monetary awards. The other places will receive the appropriate medallions.
In the event that the participation is less than 400 (combined local entries) the contest will be aborted and all entry fees will be returned.

The Contest will begin on January 1, 2020 at 8 am CST and end on July 15, 2020 at 11:59 pm. CDST
Entries submitted after this contest period will not be accepted.
Eligibility of contestants
The Contestants must be in one of the four categories A) Adult B College Students C) High School Students D Middle school Students.
Obligations
No
purchase is necessary, but there is a $10 (ten dollar) processing fee.
All contestants must have a signed Media Release Form and if under 18
years of age a Parental Permission Form signed by the parent or legal
guardian must also be submitted.
Submission Requirements
Each contestant will perform two poems, one by Dr. Foston from her book, You Don’t Live on My Street and one by another poet.
A Competition Folder containing five of Dr Foston’s poems will be made available as a free download from the website.
For additional poems that can be used in competition, Dr Foston’s work is available as an ebook. You Don’t Live on My Street, which can be purchased as an eBook at www.fostoninstitue.com.
The combined total time allotted for these two recitations must be 5 (five) minutes or less. If the time limit is exceeded, the submission will be disqualified.
